Did you know that Buffalo ISD offers Parent Portal for parents and students:

Highlights Include:

  • Assignments: View your child’s upcoming incomplete or missing assignments as well as past assignments, including due dates and grades received.
  • Alerts: Create a customized ‘alert event’ that will prompt an email or text message notification for attendance or grade activities.
  • Manage multiple students: You only need one account to manage multiple students, regardless of the school. This feature allows you to add additional students to your account.
  • My settings: Manage your account, including updating passwords and email addresses.
  • Grades: View a summary of student averages from each report card period for all classes.
  • Attendance: View a list of all non-present attendance events, such as absences and tardies, recorded during the school year.
  • Calendar: View non-present attendance events by date as well as a high-level description of any campus or District events entered by the school administrator.
  • Report card: This area will only be made available after report card pickup has been completed at the school.

Community & Student Engagement

Texas Education Code §39.0545 as passed by the 83rd Texas legislature, requires 
the “district” to evaluate itself and each of its campuses in the area of “community 
and student engagement” as they relate to eight different categories, and submit a 
rating of “Exemplary”, “Recognized”, “Acceptable”, or” Unacceptable” to the 
Texas Education Agency by August 8 of each year for each category:

  • Fine Arts
  • Wellness & Physical Education
  • Community and Parental Involvement
  • 21st Century Workforce Development
  • Second Language Acquisition Program
  • The Digital Learning Environment
  • Dropout Prevention Strategies
  • Gifted & Talented Programs

SHAC

School Health Advisory Committee

 
A committee of appointed administrators, teachers, paras, nurse, parent and community people. They meet to promote and collaborate ideas for maintaining and educating the importance of health and wellness for the district.  Each building has different activities for the student and staff.
 
SHAC HAPPENINGS

WATER - Encourage everyone to drink only water
MEET THE PRINCIPAL AT THE POLE - walking and jogging
CLOCK IT –Clocking the distance around the district playgrounds for those monitoring students at play
MAMMOGRAMS - Offered to all teachers from Trinity Mother Francis
CHECK IT - Blood work checked by Health Matters for all teachers
SHOTS - Flu Shots offered to all teachers from Health Matters
LET’S EAT - Healthy lunches offered to student and teachers
SNACKS - Healthy and appropriate snacks offered at the appropriate time of day for students
NURSES - School nurse available to students
PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 135 minutes of PE per week for all students
RECESS - 75 minutes of recess per week for all students
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT - Go Texan Day that includes activity booths
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART - Fund Raiser for cardiovascular illnesses
PENNIES FOR PATIENTS - Fund Raiser for cancer patients

SHAC plays an important role in communicating the connection between health and learning. It reinforces the health knowledge and skills children need to be healthy for a lifetime.
